The Challenge: Enhancing SMS and video infrastructure
To better support critical health notifications and patient interactions, CareMonitor needed to enhance its SMS and telehealth video conferencing infrastructure. In addition, CareMonitor faced the challenge of managing multiple integrations and delivering critical healthcare notifications at scale.
To address these needs, the company required a communications solution partner with robust, API-driven technology and comprehensive documentation to ensure smooth integration and implementation.
CareMonitor chose 8×8 as its preferred partner for SMS and video telehealth services due to the platform’s strong documentation, transparency, and seamless customer support.
The Solution: API-driven communications technology
CareMonitor’s IT team integrated 8×8 SMS API and 8×8 Jitsi as a Service (JaaS) video SDK into their platform. These capabilities enabled CareMonitor to provide a convenient omnichannel experience to its users.
The team used the SMS API to implement a comprehensive workflow for pre- and post-surgery notifications. This workflow included pre-surgery notifications, health information, admission checklists, and post-surgery care instructions, providing patients with end-to-end support over a period of 12 to 18 months.
The integration of the JaaS video SDK into CareMonitor’s platform allowed for a seamless telehealth experience. Patients and clinicians could easily join video appointments via a link without the need for additional apps. The video SDK was optimized for various devices and included features like prioritizing voice over video in low-bandwidth scenarios and phone-in options for telehealth conferences.
The Result: Seamless workflow and communications
The partnership with 8×8 allowed CareMonitor to confidently grow and scale while ensuring a seamless experience for clinicians and patients.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the company’s platform supported over one million patients, delivering critical healthcare interactions at scale. Today, The platform continues to deliver thousands of unique patient interactions daily, ensuring timely communication for critical healthcare pathways.
By moving to JaaS, CareMonitor significantly reduced the burden on its DevOps team, freeing up resources previously used for managing servers and applying patches. The 8×8 integration also helped streamline the development process, resulting in a time savings of 30% for developers. This allowed them to focus on building additional features and further platform innovations.
Deepak Biswal, CEO of CareMonitor sums it up: “8×8 enables us to save 30% in development time, deliver critical healthcare notifications at scale, and provide a seamless telehealth experience for both patients and clinicians.”
